We have been rotating the location of our Friday workout for the last two months. Last month we took on the Fort Greene hills and stairs. The month before we were on the Brooklyn side of the Manhattan Bridge. We’re two for two on choosing our inclines in Kings County. And for the month of May, we’re making it three for three! Tomorrow – May 3rd – at 6:30 AM, we are meeting in Prospect Park on Battle Pass Hill!
Battle Pass Hill? Also known as the hill in Prospect Park, if you’re running it counter-clockwise. The Battle of Long Island took place at this very spot during the Revolutionary War. And although the Americans lost that battle, we at The Rise promise you that after 30 minutes of running up and down that historic segment of East Drive, you’ll emerge victorious!
Take the 2/3 train to Grand Army Plaza, or the B/Q to 7th avenue, and walk into Prospect Park through the entrance across from the arch. Follow the main road as it curves to the left and you’ll eventually find yourself on a downhill. We’ll be meeting on your left (as you continue to head downhill) in the grassy area pictured above. Leave yourself about 15 minutes to get to the workout after you arrive at the train station.
Afterwards we’ll head to Hungry Ghost for coffee, conversation, and some delicious King David breakfast tacos! This is also what we do after our Tuesday workouts in Brooklyn. The only thing better than eating breakfast tacos is eating them twice in one week!
