Last Tuesday night we embarked on our final group mission of the July rucking challenge! We completed somewhere between 4 and 7.2 miles (depending on whom you ask) – from the Brooklyn side of the Willy B, around the southern tip of Manhattan.
But while the monthly challenge is over, the enthusiasm for walking with a weighted backpack is still very much alive! Hence – next week’s RUCKoning workout! Unlike the previous rucking events, this one’s not just a walk. We’ll throw in bodyweight exercises, partner challenges, and a whole lot more!
We’ll meet at the north end of Sara D. Roosevelt Park (Houston St. between Chrystie and Forsyth), work out for 45 minutes to an hour, and then head to Loreley Beer Garden for some good eats and drinks. Make sure to RSVP!
Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way…read on for a recap of last week’s happenings! You can also view all the photos from those workouts here.
At our HIIT workout we started from the bottom with abs, worked our way into plank, and eventually got up on our feet with cardio-driven exercises.
The low to high workout felt like a climb to the top of a mountain on a rainy rainy morning. It was treacherous, but we made it up without incident. Yeah buddy!
Chad led a tough workout in soupy weather! A warmup consisting of high knees, buttkicks, shuffling, and more; a BADASS circuit where each letter represents an exercise; a classic sprint-plank ladder; and a final AMRAP segment with sit-ups, pushups, squats, and a run around the fountain.
We were also lucky enough to have David and Karla from The Rise Leipzig join us! Yes – we have a chapter of The Rise in Leipzig, Germany. Yes – we are taking over the world.
The Queens Warriors followed three simple steps during this workout: (1) sweat, (2) smile, (3) repeat!
They’re in MacDonald Park every Tuesday morning, absolutely CRUSHING the fitness game. Be sure to join them next time!
It was a soggy morning in Bryant Park, so the Boot Camp crew moved to 5th Avenue to work out in the dry, cozy archway of the New York Public Library!
But what we lacked in rain, we made up for in sweat!
Join us next time – every Wednesday at 6:30 AM. Rain or shine – we’re out here!
Last week’s Kings of Queens workout was led by Squirrely the Fitness Squirrel.
Squirrely made us play “The Floor is Lava”. We climbed onto the tops of the benches and tried to crawl across without falling.
Just kidding – none of that happened. BUT we gave plenty of high fives!
Join us every Thursday in MacDonald Park!
Friday was our DAY OF RECKONNINGGG! We ran up and down the Willy B incline as many times as possible. Huy took some masterful photos of these Risers in action.
This Friday we’re doing hill sprints – 10 x 45 seconds. You won’t wanna miss it.
