Rise RECAP: May 14 – May 18


It was graduation week for many NYC-area colleges, so we threw our caps in the air and collected our sweaty Rise diplomas! Luckily, what we lack in photoshop skills (see the featured image for this blog post), we make up for in Burpee abilities. Check out the recap!


Monday – HIIT

Going to bed early Sunday night? Setting your alarm for 5 something AM? Sacrificing sleep for sweat? Always worth it! (mainly for the dogs)

HIIT workout are always a little bit harder than you’d expect. It’s just 20 seconds of exercise at a time – with 10 seconds of rest! But those short cycles add up – and boy do they HURT! But we do give you a chance to kick your feet up and relax every now and then…

We guarantee smiles, friendship, and high intensity intervals. Come get some every Monday!


Tuesday – Brooklyn Body Circuit

What a beautiful morning at Grand Army Plaza!

The Badasses started the morning with a heart pumping cardio blast circuit. From there we moved on to an awesome partners circuit where we tried jump-overs for the first time – think trust falls, Rise style.

We finished up with a lunch bag challenge, which turned into The Final Countdown workout for the last 5 minutes courtesy of Europe.

Tuesday – Queens Warriors

Another awesome Tuesday workout in Queens. We started off with combo sprints and HIIT, followed by a dice workout. For the last 10 minutes, Tom presented us with a very creative partner workout moves. (Zoran was a big fan of the pushing and pulling!)

Wednesday – Core Body Boot Camp

At Boot Camp this week we tested our strength with a full deck of cards workout culminating in a huge, if not somewhat chaotic, ball bag challenge (Rachel seemed to embrace the chaos so we all just went with it)

Finally we biked up a mountain together in segments, and waited for each other in plank position. Sweat stains were back in town, but the smiles and high fives thankfully never left.

Great job boot campers!


Thursday – Kings of Queens

It was a rainy morning in Queens, so we did what we do best!

Only a few Kings of Queens made it out, but we got our sweat on and enjoyed it! #StrongerThanExcuses


Friday – Hills

Friday’s workout was ANYTHING GOES! The exercises are determined by a deck of cards. Depending on what card was drawn, you might have to run…

Or do some exercises at the base of the bridge.

We finished up with a round of exercises together at the base. Raj and I had a pretty fun Burpee-off!
