Rise RECAP: Mar. 26 – Mar. 30


Last week we celebrated a birthday in true rise fashion, did a whole lot of running, and ended the week with some delicious donuts!  Here’s a recap of what happened:


Monday – HIIT

On Monday at Washington Square Park we dipped, we dashed, and we started our week right with the usual 20 seconds of work and 10 seconds of rest. Plenty of sweat and plenty of smiles, don’t miss us 6:30AM every week.


Tuesday – BK Body Circuit

There’s a rumor that Tuesday mornings at Grand Army Plaza are the place to be! This group of badasses experienced it first hand. We did some traditional Badass 30 second circuits and introduced a deck of cards to deal us our fate for a circuit. The fate of choice: all the TOUCHDOWNS!

Welcome to first-timer Shana, and welcome back to Dan, Rachel, Sarah, and Jamie – we know you’re destined to become regulars. YEAH BUDDY!! Rise up with the Brooklyn Badasses every Tuesday morning at 6:30am!


Tuesday – Queens Warriors

Happy belated birthday to our Queens Warrior Kerri!! Finally this time we had a chance to use lots of whipped cream, a usual Rise birthday treat. Yeah Buddy!!

In Queens we started with sprints, box jumps, and push-ups followed with a dice workout and ended with a classic challenge of full body pyramid. We also welcomed a new Riser Mike! Join the Queens Warriors every Tuesday morning at 6:30AM at Macdonald Park, Forest Hills! It’s fun! It’s free! Rise up and shine!


Wednesday – Core Body Boot Camp

At Wednesday’s Core Body Bootcamp we traded in our ball bag for an AMRAP (As Many Reps As Possible) and worked on our broad jumps, fast feet, planks, rows, and step ups. We also did some running. Did I mention we love running? Especially informal running.

Thursday – Form and Flow

Form and Flow in front of the Flatiron building was a blast! We greeted the day with Garland pose and lots of smiles. Join us Thursdays at 6:30 AM!


Thursday – King of Queens

What a sweaty start to our Thursday morning in MacDonald Park in Queens! During our dice segment, we realized we might need to get a new die since this one only wanted to land on 2, meaning we did ALL.THE.LEG LIFTS!!! Great energy with some awesome people who continue to show up every week and sweat it out like there is no tomorrow!


Friday – Hills

March was a rare occasion when we had five Fridays in one month! We like to celebrate these rare occasions! Last time, back in December, we ran to Rockefeller center. This month, we decided to take the Brooklyn Bridge to Brooklyn…

…and then took the Manhattan Bridge back to Manhattan.

That’s right, twice the bridges, all of the hills, and a great run to boot! We finished at Doughnut Plant where we treated ourselves to some well earned coffee and doughnuts.

Another great hill workout in the books. We’ll be back at the Manhattan side of the Williamsburg Bridge this Friday for some sprints! See you Risers there!
