Spring-like weather has finally arrived – and only a month later than expected! With the exception of Wednesday morning’s downpour, we started off our weekdays with cool temps and dry skies. That means bigger (and even smilier, believe it or not) group photos! We also got a great turnout to conclude our Form and Flow workout series. Curious? Then read on!
There’s no high five like a crabwalk high five! And that’s how we opened our HIIT workout.
HIIT is all about 20 seconds of exercise, followed by 10 seconds of rest. Sometimes we go at our own pace, and other times we have a partner to push us a little harder! We finished with a partner pushup/squat segment. “What did your partner do over the weekend?” was the big question this time around. Next time it’ll be something different. Show up to find out!
Chad took the Brooklyn badasses around the world!
Sumo squats in Japan, speed skaters in the Netherlands – and more! We wrapped up that segment with Burpees back in Brooklyn (of course).
By the end of the workout we got our passports stamped as many times as we had our butts kicked! Join us next week – 6:30 AM at Grand Army Plaza!
What a morning in Queens, We rise and shine no matter the weather conditions, but as it gets warmer more and more Risers are joining. This Tuesday we split the workout into 4 segments and each one delivered a different type of intensity and fun! In no time MacDonald Park was filled with smiles and high fives.
Join us every Tuesday for 30 minutes of free fitness, high fives and smiles at 6:30AM. Forest Hills, Queens, just one block away from the subway F, E, R and M train!
We couldn’t make the rain go away, but we could at least shield ourselves from it! A small but mighty group of Risers made the trek from 6th Avenue to the 5th Avenue side and took shelter in the New York Public Library’s arcade – the perfect place to do wall sits!
We went with pyramid formation for the group photo and totally nailed it!
The last Form and Flow! We rallied the troops and got a solid showing – including four Form and Flow first-timers (and last-timers). Jono took us through 30 minutes of yoga-style fitness. It required balance, patience, and flexibility, and challenged all three of our inner warriors.
Who is the mastermind behind Form and Flow? Who can hold a pistol squat like nobody else? This dude. Thanks for a great workout series Jono!
Summer prep was in full swing on Thursday morning in Queens! 95% humidity and 125% chance of high fives and smiles from old and new Risers.
We threw in a surprise twist in the dice, with one of the sides being ‘dealers choice’, and ended the morning with a pyramid of flutter kicks and squats (transition police approved!)
Thursdays – 6:30 AM in MacDonald Park. If you want to be royal, be there!
The last Friday of the month means DAY OF RECKONING! Huy worked his photography magic, Chad kept our belongings safe, and the rest of us ran up and down the bridge as many times as we could for 30 minutes.
We also got our sign back! We like to have it up in case we forget who we are and what we’re supposed to be doing.
Awesome way to wrap up the week Risers!
